Man stabbed for refusing to give water

Pinku was cooking when two men came to him and asked for water. When Pinku refused, one of the men stabbed him.

Angry over being refused a bottle of water, two men allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old man to death, while his brother escaped with injuries. The incident was reported on Thursday night from West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden area, police said.

Police identified the dead man  as Pinku. His brother Bhola has been admitted to DDU Hospital for treatment. Police were alerted of the incident by the hospital authorities. Soon after, the two accused, Sunny and Ramanand Sagar, were arrested. The dagger used in the crime was also recovered, police said.

“While Pinku was brought dead to the hospital, Bhola has been admitted for treatment. Bhola, who is also an eyewitness,  said around 9 pm he and his brother were cooking food in front their house when Sunny came there and asked for water.

When the brothers refused, an argument ensued… Meanwhile, Sagar also joined them. He immediately took out a dagger and stabbed Bhola and Pinku,” police said, adding that Pinku sustained multiple stab wounds in his abdomen and died on the spot.

“Soon after, a team conducted raids at the residences of the accused… Both were caught within four hours. The weapon used in the crime has also been recovered. Independent witnesses have also been examined,” DCP West, Ranvir Singh said.
