Two persons were arrested for allegedly murdering a 35-year-old,when he resisted a robbery attempt,in Northeast Delhis Gokulpuri area,police said on Tuesday. The knife,used for the crime,mobile phone and important documents belonging to the deceased have been recovered from their possession.
Lalit Yadav,(21) and Kallu,(29) were arrested after an eyewitness informed police on seeing the two murdering a man,later identified as Sahdev Singh, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Sanjay Kumar Jain. The deceased worked at a plastic granules manufacturing factory,police said.
Investigations began on August 15 when the deceaseds body was found in Gokulpuri with stab injuries in his abdomen. Local intelligence helped police reach an eyewitness who deposed against the two saying he saw the two murder the victim when he resisted a robbery attempt.
Lalit was then arrested and produced in court. During interrogation,he disclosed that on August 15,he along with his associate Kallu committed the robbery but when the victim resisted,Kallu instigated Lalit to stab him. The deceased was stabbed twice in the abdomen,following which he fell to the ground. Thereafter,the two robbed his mobile phone,Rs 400,victims passbook,LIC papers and some photographs.
The accused also tried calling one of their friends from the deceaseds mobile phone to help locate a safe hide out. The friend,however refused. While Lalit retained the money and the documents,he asked Kallu to keep the knife. Kallu was held on September 4 and a knife was recovered from his possession.
