The police said the incident took place in the parking area of the Ambavati Complex in Mehrauli on Monday night, when unidentified persons tried to light a fire-cracker kept inside a glass bottle. No one was injured in the incident.

The police registered a case under Sections 3,4 and 5 of Explosives Substances Act at the Mehrauli police station.

These sections deal with causing explosion, attempt to cause explosion and making and possessing explosives, the police official said.

“The crackers were inside the bottle. Instead of going up,it exploded. There was a very low-intensity explosion, which scared people in the area,” the police said.

“Initial investigations suggest that there was some inflammable fluid inside the bottle which triggered the explosion,” a police official said.
