The national capital,a partner city in the Earth Hour initiative promoted by the World Wide Fund for Nature,saved nearly 350 MW of power by switching off lights on Saturday between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm. In a symbolic function,Sheila Dikshit turned off an artificial switch at the India Gate,following which all ‘non-essential lights’ were switched off. The area was then lit up with candles and danseuse Shovana Narayan presented a kathak performance.
