17-year-old JEE aspirant dies by suicide in Delhi

A 17-year-old JEE aspirant died by suicide at Okhla Main Market in Delhi on Friday. The police said the girl left a suicide note mentioning academic pressure and her inability to meet expectations for taking her life.

The girl, a resident of Shaheen Bagh, had cleared Class 12 and was preparing for the JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) exam. According to the police, she had earlier told her mother that she would die by suicide if she could not clear JEE.

The Jamia Nagar police station has registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

“Further investigations are going on,” an officer said, adding that the victim’s father is a private employee while her mother is a housewife.
