You have seen him spin out magic on the ramp,but how many of you would have guessed that designer Rohit Bal can dish out some mean pastas with equal elan? Bal and fellow designers Varun Bahl,Rohit Gandhi,upcoming model Lalit Tehlan,cigar baron Chetan Seth and artist Amitava Das came together for the Carlsberg-sponsored food event,Men Can Cook,in association with food consultant Karen Anand at the designer’s tony restaurant Cibo at The Janpath Hotel. While Bahl tossed up pasta in tomato and basil sauce,Gandhi came up with cream lasagna with mushrooms. Das toasted his Bengali roots with the traditional chicken in poppy seeds,but the honours clearly belonged to Seth and Bal,who prepared spaghetti with putan questa sauce and pepper-smeared salmon with pasta respectively and tied for the first prize. Cheering the participants were Seth’s daughter Ameeta,model Joey Mathews,former cricketer Atul Wasan,gallerist Amol Vadehra,interior designer Jeevi Sethi among others.
