A 52-year-old accountant working with a construction company was shot dead by three unidentified assailants on Friday near Vaishali around 5.30 pm. The assailants also reportedly made away with a bag the victim,Ghanshyam,was carrying. Police said the bag contained Rs 10 lakh. “We have detained a few persons,” police said.

Three fires in 24 hours,no one hurt
Three incidents of fire were reported in the last 24 hours. The police said no one was injured in any of the incidents. In the first incident,the fire department received a call around 12.15 am on Saturday about a fire in a shoe factory in Mundka,West Delhi. Five tenders were sent to the spot and the fire was controlled within three hours. A fire was also reported from Nehru Nagar,West Delhi. Eight slums were reportedly gutted. In the third incident,a fire broke out in a cardboard factory in Northwest Delhi.

Afzal Guru: Delhi BJP demands white paper
The BJP demanded on Friday that Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit should issue a ‘white paper’ on why it delayed decision on the “sensitive” issue of mercy petition of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. “Why were they sitting over the file for four years? The Chief Minister should issue a white paper and apologise to the people,” state BJP president Vijender Gupta said.

Charges framed in BMW accident case
A Delhi court on Saturday framed charges against Utsav Bhasin,who allegedly crushed a motorcyclist under his BMW in 2008. The provisions may attract life imprisonment as the maximum sentence in the case framed.
