Seven held for cattle slaughter
Seven persons allegedly involved in slaughter of cattle were arrested in South Delhi on Tuesday. The Delhi Police,along with members of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and Delhi government,conducted raids across the city and arrested the seven from slum clusters in Indira Market,RK Puram. A number of councillors,including former Mayor Arti Mehra,were also present at the spot. Subhash Arya,Leader of MCD House,has now written to Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna demanding invoking of the National Security Act against the offenders. The MCD has also ordered an inquiry.

Mayor demands action against cops
Delhi Mayor Kanwar Sain has demanded an inquiry into the police action against councillors and activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who were protesting against price rise on Monday. Ten BJP councillors and activists,including MCD Standing Committee chairman Ram Kishan Singhal,were injured on Monday when police used water canons to disperse demonstrators who tried to reach the Delhi Assembly on bullock carts to protest against price rise. Sain has written to Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal,demanding an inquiry be initiated and appropriate action be taken against “erring police officials who acted brutally to crush the protest”.
