Amid reports of A-320s and A-330s having manufacturing defects,an Airbus 320 of the Indian Airlines returned to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Monday an hour after take-off.
The IC 947 Delhi-Hyderabad-Tirupati flight took off from Delhi at 10 am but returned when the pilot reported a technical snag. The emergency set-up was put on stand-by and a fleet of vehicles and fire-tenders rushed to help the 68 passengers and six crew members disembark.
Minutes after taking off,the pilot requested the air traffic controller for permission to land, an Indian Airlines official said. The plane landed safely at 11:18 am. Another aircraft was later arranged, which left at 12:30 pm.
