Three days after a school principal was found murdered,the East Delhi police arrested his domestic help from the latters native place in Budaun,Uttar Pradesh.
Jagan Singh was found dead on June 8 in his bedroom at R-58,East Vinod Nagar. He ran Sanjay Memorial Public School from his residence.
Officials at Kalyanpuri police station said the accused,Hira Lal,committed the murder after being allegedly beaten up by Singh. Singhs son Tushar,a resident of Sector 66,Noida,had found his fathers body on June 8 around 8.30 pm. Police said Singhs bedroom had been locked from outside.
During investigations,police found that Singh employed two domestic helps,Pooran Singh Bisht and Lal,who also stayed with him. Lal was missing since the murder,the police said.
A police team was sent to Budaun but Lal could not be found. The team stayed back and Lal was arrested on Friday from near Islam Nagar bus stop in Budaun, I B Rani,Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East),said.
Claiming Singh used to abuse him,Lal told the police he beat him up on June 7. To avenge this,Lal hit Singh with an iron rod and made away with valuables. Police have recovered Singhs mobile phone and wrist watch from Lal,an officer said.
Cooler gang leader arrested
The crime branch on Friday arrested the man running the cooler gang in South Delhi. Police said Vijay Shankar Shukla,45,committed the burglaries after making his victims unconscious by putting sleep inducing tablets in their coolers. Police claim to have solved 12 cases of burglaries in Srinivaspuri,East of Kailash and Amar Colony with his arrest. Two mobile phones,gold chains,wristwatches and house-breaking tools were recovered from Shukla,police said. He committed the thefts alone,police added.
