The Vidhan Sabha elections on Tuesday for Gurgaon’s four constituencies — Gurgaon,Badshahpur,Sohna and Pataudi — were peaceful with no cases of booth capturing or poll rigging reported from any centre.

Approximately 62.75 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the entire district. According to the tentative figures received from the district election office, maximum polling (around 73 per cent) was recorded from Sohna Assembly segment, while minimum (around 55 per cent) was recorded from Gurgaon. Badshahpur recorded 60 per cent while Pataudi Assembly segment recorded about 63 per cent polling.

The total number of registered voters in the district are 7,69,770.

Meanwhile, despite repeated requests from the administration, the residents of Kho village in Pataudi boycotted the elections and no vote was cast at polling station number 72.

The district administration had set up voters assistance booths at eight different locations in DLF and Palam Vihar areas besides 18 voter registration information centres (VRICs) at various points in Gurgaon city.

Despite all measures, however, sporadic incidents of voters’ names missing were reported in certain pockets in DLF area.

“I had cast my vote from this very centre but today my name does not figure in the list. It is rather surprising despite the fact that I have a voter’s ID card,” said Rama Chawla,a resident of Silver Oaks, who was at the DLF Community Centre in Phase-I to cast her vote.

Such cases were, however, less as compared to the Lok Sabha elections.
