The human life is directly connected with water and other elements of nature. Through my dance,I explore the presence of these natural elements in every person. I want people to feel an involvement with life through the magic of movement, says Shilpika Bordoloi,a contemporary dancer who will hold an eco-dance workshop called In the Flow at EcoFestival 2010,a three day event that begins on June 4. Being organised by a public trust called Kriti and the American Centre to celebrate the World Environment Day,the Festival is packed with events for all ages. Apart from eco-dance,there will also be theatre Anurupa Roy of Delhi-based group Kat-Katha will stage the play The Little Blue Planet and a workshop on eco-art in which participants will learn to make newspaper bags among others. The aim is to urge people to think and act green, says Aanchal Kapur,Founder Leader,Kriti.
Shillong-based band HFT will give a Jazz fusion performance called EcoRythms while EcoReels will have documentary screenings on wildlife and the environment. You can also treat your taste buds to organic food at the EcoCafe or take home a herbal plant from the EcoNursery. For the shopper in you,there is EcoHaat.
An EcoCompetition invites entries in the form of painting,poetry,photograph and installation,the best of which will be showcased during the festival. Heres your chance to leave your eco footprint on this Environment Day.
