He has worked closely with Vishal Bhardwaj and also considers the Maqbool director his mentor, but for his next, Abhishek Chaubey has found new collaborators. The latest film by the director of the Ishqiya franchise is being produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Vikramaditya Motwane’s Phantom. Tentatively titled Udta Punjab, the film is said to be a sci-fi thriller. The filmmaker is in the final stages of discussion with Shahid Kapoor (above pic) for the lead role. The actor, whose next, Haider, has been directed by Bhardwaj, is working out his schedule in order to be able to shoot for the film in Punjab later this year.
