French Fable

Designer Suneet Varma,who’s been out of the fashion scene lately,just made a splashy comeback,with a dazzling collection for fall-winter,revealed at The Emporio on Saturday. Titled “La Belle Epoque”,French for beautiful era,it had models showcasing heavily embellished lehngas in delicate creams and pastels against a lovely backdrop of French windows. Varma’s buddy,designer Ravi Bajaj,hung out in the background,while regular buyers Latika Khaneja and Tanisha Mohan bonded over martinis and canapés. Meanwhile TV actor Sushma Seth was spotted chatting with old friend and Suneet’s mother,Indira. “I have always been interested in history so I recreated this beautiful French porch,” says Varma. Ask who are the two women he would love to dress up,and Varma replies,“Definitely Barbara Mori and Sonam Kapoor. You can’t help but be overwhelmed by Mori’s strong personality and Sonam is just lovely.”
