Free traffic on BRT as part of trial

Free flow of traffic will be allowed on all lanes of the BRT between May 12 and May 17.

Free flow of traffic will be allowed on all lanes of the BRT between May 12 and May 17,as part of the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) study on BRT,as per High Court orders. The CRRI will be forwarding these dates to the traffic police and Transport department on Monday for final approval.

“The trial will be from Saturday till Thursday. This is being done to study traffic movement over the weekend and weekdays. The physical changes along the corridor will be made this week. Right moving traffic — whether buses or motor vehicles — will travel on the BRT lane. Traffic going straight and left will move on the existing MV lane,’’ said a CRRI official.

Monitoring during the trial run will be done by CRRI,as well as observers from Transport department and DIMTS,which manages the BRT corridor.
