Smarton Trio from Hungary will be one of the bands at the Delhi International Jazz Festival.
This weekend, the Capital will be treated to some old school jazz with modern improvisations as musicians from Hungary, Colombia, Poland, France, the US, South Korea and India come together for the Delhi International Jazz Festival.
An initiative by the ICCR, the fourth edition of the festival will include Ari Roland Quartet from the US and PJ Perry Trio
from Canada. Black Slade Jazz Rock, a four-piece fusion band from Delhi will also fill the air with jazz standards, along with two original compositions on Friday.
Anthony Braganza, bassist and founding member, says, “In the past few years there has been a difference in the perception of jazz in India, especially among youngsters, who are now listening, composing and playing jazz.” Ashwani Verma, drummer of the band agrees, “If we have such jazz concerts regularly, India too can boast of young jazz musicians.”
The festival will be on from March 28 to March 30, 6pm to 10 pm at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri; entry is free. For details, visit
