Five-year-old girl goes missing from outside Gurgaon temple

A five-year-old girl has gone missing under mysterious circumstances from outside the Sheetla Mata Mandir since Sunday afternoon.

A five-year-old girl has gone missing under mysterious circumstances from outside the Sheetla Mata Mandir since Sunday afternoon. The incident was reported around 2.40 pm when Samuj Kumar, the girl’s father, came to pay a visit to the temple with his wife, two children, sister and a few others.

Kumar parked his car outside the temple, not noticing an open manhole just few metres away. As they all got down from the car and made a headcount to make sure that no one was left behind in the car, they noticed that their five-year-old daughter Shikha was missing.

They looked inside the car but did not find her there. They raised alarm, tried to find out if she had strayed away in the crowd, but could not find her anywhere. Kumar then informed the temple authorities who made announcements and called the police.

The fire officials scanned the entire sewage system in the area on Sunday and Monday, but to no avail. “I do not know what has happened to my daughter. I have no enmity with anyone. I have not received any ransom calls so far,” said Kumar.

The Gurgaon police, meanwhile, have registered a missing complaint and are investigating the matter, confirmed DCP (West) Rakesh Arya.
