Five persons,including two Bangladeshis and a Nepali,were arrested in the Capital for allegedly sending people to Australia,Afghanistan and Latin American countries using forged passports and documents,the police said on Friday. The gang sent Bangladeshi,Nepalese and Sri Lankan nationals to Saudi Arabia,Latin American countries,Australia,Afghanistan and other countries by getting visas stamped on forged Nepalese and Indian passports.
The accused have been identified as Udit Narayan Singh (36),Kalique Uddin (41),his wife Kazi Nasrin,Omar Faruk (24) and Paban Khadka. Nasrin and Faruk are Bangladeshi nationals while Khadka is a Nepali. Singh belongs to Jharkhand and Uddin is from Assam,a senior police officer said. Twelve Nepalese passports,a fake Indian passport,a Bangladeshi passport,visa stickers and other documents were recovered from them,the official said.
The arrests came following investigations into inputs provided by the Central Intelligence Agency about the gang. The police said during interrogation,the accused told them they used to charge Rs 2-3 lakh from job aspirants.
Singh was the coordinator,facilitator and gang leader,and has been involved in human trafficking for the last two years,the police said.
