If the smell of burning rubber, screeching cars and rumbling engines fascinate you, head to Singapore to get your adrenaline fix.

If the smell of burning rubber, screeching cars and rumbling engines fascinate you, head to Singapore to get your adrenaline fix. With the second edition of the Singapore F1—the only night F1 race scheduled from September 25 to 27,travel operators have come up with exciting options.

“There are around 50 flights from India daily. Many see the F1 as an excuse to get away from work for a three-day vacation,” says Thomas Thottathil,Head of Corporate Communications,Cox and Kings. They are offering a four-day,three-night package for Rs 23,035 per person which does not include the F1 ticket or airfare. “We will put up guests in a three-star accommodation, throw in a city tour and a visit to the bird park and the Singapore Flyer,” adds Thottathil, adding that demand has risen significantly this year.

Travel operators feel that Force India’s performance has increased interest. “For almost four weeks,Force India has been doing well. In Italy, they got a podium finish and are looking good,” says Vishal Suri,COO,Leisure Outbound,Thomas Cook. The company is offering three packages, catering to young married couples, families and die-hard F1 fans. Their packages start from Rs 52,700 on a triple-sharing basis to Rs 90,500 for single rooms in three-star accommodation. All packages include breakfast,F1 ticket, airfare, visa charges and travel insurance. There are also options of fine dining and after-race rock concerts. “Youngsters are more keen on the after race parties. This year,we have concerts by Beyonce and the Black Eyed Peas in our package,” says Suri, adding that last year they had only one package.

You may not be able to ride an F1 car but you can gain an in-depth knowledge of its functioning. “We are tying up with the Singapore F1 organising body to give a presentation of how the F1 car functions and the challenges involved in driving in one by taking the visitor into the pit lanes before the race,” explains P Srinivas, senior VP,Special Interest Tours,SOTC,the official travel partner for the Singapore F1 grand prix. They are offering two packages, the first includes airfare and F1 tickets at the Bay Grand Stand area while the second is inclusive of accommodation also. Price ranges from Rs 28,900 to Rs 49,900 per person in three-star lodgings. “We are assuming a person traveling for the F1 has already visited the touristy spots in the city,” adds Srinivas, who is offering extension tours to destinations like Bintan Island,Indonesia,Hong Kong and Macau and Pattaya in Thailand after Sunday’s race. “We have seen a 40 per cent rise for a four-day tour of Singapore at Rs 34,180. This, however, does not include the F1 ticket prices. The rates vary since the demand is going up for the tickets,”

A new entrant in the F1 packages domain is TUI with their three-night,four-day tour of Singapore at Rs 34,180. This, again, does not include the F1 ticket prices.
