Engineer booked for corruption

The Noida police on Friday registered a case of corruption against an engineer posted with the Building and Encroachment Cell of the Noida Authority. The move came after a court directed the police to register the case against him.

The FIR registered at the Sector-39 police station states the engineer,Shyodaan Singh,had demanded money from a complainant,Ajab Singh,to let his trucks pass through Mahamaya flyover on February 17. “Shyodaan demanded bribe of Rs 15,000 for each truck before allowing them to pass,” the FIR states.

When Ajab refused to pay,the officials seized the trucks. He approached the police who allegedly refused to file a complaint. Ajab then approached the court. “We have registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act against the engineer,” Anil Samania,SHO,Sector-39 police station,said.
