To take on BJPs chief ministerial candidate,Dr Harsh Vardhan, the Congress has fielded an ex-BJP man,who is also a doctor.
Dr Vinod Kumar Monga, who left the BJP due to differences with Harsh Vardhan, will now give him a fight from the Krishna Nagar constituency.
Monga blames Harsh Vardhan for hampering his growth within the party and forcing him to resign.
I was fed up with the internal politics of the BJP,especially regarding Harsh Vardhans role. He was instrumental in ensuring that I did not get a promotion while I was part of the BJP. That is why I decided to join the Congress about two months ago, Monga said.
Monga, who was a councillor in the erstwhile Municipal Corporation of Delhi before the 2012 municipal elections, also held the post of health committee chairman. He was denied a ticket in the 2012 municipal elections. He is also a former president of Delhi Medical Association.
We are going to give BJPs CM candidate a fight to remember, Monga said. A party source said,This will be an interesting contest as both are from the same fraternity.
Harsh Vardhan was not available for comment.
