On September 12, two men on bike fired around 10-12 rounds at Patani's residence in Bareilly's Civil Lines area and fled away. (File Photo)The men who fired several rounds of shots outside actor Disha Patani’s residence in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly last week may be linked to the shooting incident at a court in Haryana’s Bhiwani earlier this month, officers in the UP Police suspect.
In Bhiwani, a man was shot dead inside the court premises in full public view on September 4. Following the incident, Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar gang allegedly took the responsibility in a purported social media post. The Haryana Police arrested six persons in the matter.
According to the UP Police, the social media post put out after the firing outside Patani’s residence was found to have links with the Haryana incident. “The IP address of the account is found to be operated from Portugal. It is suspected that the gang is being operated from Portugal,” said an officer from the UP Police.
“A team of UP STF (Special Task Force) has contacted Delhi and Haryana Police to get the leads into this case. One team has also been sent to Rajasthan,” the officer said.
On Sunday, according to actor Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Patani, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spoke with him on phone and assured him of security arrangements. He also told him that the accused will soon be arrested.
The incident took place in the early hours of September 12 in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area when two men on bike fired around 10-12 rounds at Patani’s residence and fled away.
Hours later, a purported social media post surfaced where fugitive gangsters, Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
They stated that the firing was in retaliation for an alleged ‘insult’ directed at spiritual gurus Premanand Ji Maharaj and Anirudh Acharya Ji Maharaj by Disha’s sister Khushboo.
Brar, alias Satinderjeet Singh, is suspected to be hiding in the United States, and Godara in the United Kingdom. Both gangsters are wanted by the National Investigation Agency and several state police units in the country.
