It was perhaps the Omega European Masters in September where Jeev Milkha Singh narrowly missed the cut that showed some telling signs of what a tiring year it had been for the top golfer. After he managed an amazing turnaround with the Hong Kong Open last month, where he finished tied 7th ,he found an abrupt ending as a niggling back and shoulder trouble made him withdraw from the World Open in Japan last week after playing two rounds.
After he announced his withdrawal from the Indian Open, the buzz went around that, probably now on the other side of the 30s,Jeev should play lesser tournaments, but the pro has vehemently denied any such move.
I cant cut back on tournaments. I think its a tough call. The season has ended now and I have got five weeks to recuperate. I just have to work on my posture. Every physio in this world has told me that my posture is not good. If I need to last 10 years,I have to get my posture right, cutting on the schedule is not the solution, Jeev says.
When the Chandigarh golfer was asked if this is the worst injury of his career,he quipped that at least the pain is. I have never had this kind of pain before,I have been on pain killers for as long as I can remember but its excruciating pain. I am a firm believer in yoga. I do practice it and I am looking at a few more postures to help me heal, he said.
I have a medical exemption in the PGA Tour. I would focus more on the European Tour and Japan. I want to get back to the top-50, said Jeev.
