Delhi Chief Secretary K K Sharma on Tuesday directed several government departments to coordinate strategies for cleaning storm water drains before monsoon in order to ensure that the capital sees no instances of water-logging during the rains.
The departments have been told to upload detailed action plans on their websites before April 6.
The direction was issued during a meeting attended by officials of the public works Department, the three municipal corporations, Delhi Jal Board, Delhi Development Authority, the New Delhi Municipal council and the Delhi Metro.
Strategies discussed included de-silting of drains, improvement and up-gradation of drains, among others.
Presentations were made by the PWD and the civic bodies highlighting their actions plan for the summer and the monsoon.
The Chief Secretary directed the departments to identify vacant sites for dumping of silt as two of the three landfills in Delhi have already reached saturation point.
According to an order of the National Green Tribunal, silt and can only be dumped in landfills .
