With air quality in Delhi dipping to hazardous levels, Shri Ram School in Delhi issued a circular to parents on Tuesday, informing that “strenuous outdoor activity”, will now be restricted on severe or hazardous air quality days on the basis of “objective data” on air monitoring.
According to a notice issued by Manika Sharma, director of Shri Ram schools, the school will be “restricting strenuous/aerobic outdoor activity on days where the quality of air drops to severe/hazardous levels (on the basis of objective data available).”
Passive activities in the school will continue outside. The notice adds that principals of its schools will be communicating with parents on any changes in schedule of annual sports day that is coming up. “I would request all to cooperate with the schools for change in timings and the duration of sports day,” the notice adds. School authorities have also advised parents to inform the school about “any changes in the medical condition of the child. The school has advised parents to use car pools, and the transport services offered by the school.
The notice also states that the school “advocates” use of protective masks by students. “In the scenario that exists around us, we must take precautions to protect our children. We have all seen the use of anti-mosquito patches to protect our children from Dengue. In the same breath, I would advocate students to use masks inside and outside the school to protect themselves from pollutants,” the notice states.
