Delhi Government will soon send its proposal to the Union Home Ministry seeking approval for splitting the MCD into three smaller bodies ahead of next year’s municipal polls.
“We are making an amendment bill for trifurcation of the MCD. The draft of the bill along with a proposal will be sent to the Union Home Ministry soon,” said R K Srivastava,Urban Development Secretary of Delhi Government.
The official,part of the four-member committee which is making the draft of the bill,said after getting permission for splitting the civic agency from the Centre,the Delhi government may call a special session of the Assembly for passage of the bill.
The other members of the committee are Finance Secretary D M Spolia,Principal Secretary to Chief Minister M M Kutty and Law Secretary S P Garg.
A Delhi Cabinet meeting last month approved a proposal to split the MCD into three parts ahead of the municipal polls next year.
As per the proposal,the new civic bodies in North and South Delhi will have 104 wards each while the civic body in East Delhi will have 64 wards.
Srivastava said fourth Delhi Finance Commission was looking into financial structure of all the three new corporations.
Asked about regularisation of unauthorised colonies,Srivastava said maps have been prepared for 54 colonies out of 1,639 unauthorised colonies,which were given provisional regularisation certificates in 2008.
He said lay-out plans are ready for only 90 colonies as objections were raised for other colonies by various departments.
Srivastava said the forest department has raised objection to regularisation in 157 colonies while Archeological Survey of India has raised objections in 46 colonies.
