Manoj Tiwari
Taking charge of the BJP Delhi unit, Manoj Tiwari Wednesday hit out at the AAP government, saying that “some people have turned Delhi into a battleground”.
“We don’t believe in ranneeti. Some people have turned Delhi into a battleground — there is a war to deceive people. Delhi needs a work plan instead of false promises. The AAP graph has gone down. The upcoming (municipal) poll results will be a historic one,” he said.
On AAP’s protest against demonetisation, he said, “Those who cheated Delhi and have run away will be defeated and exposed by us. The same people who once claimed to fight corruption are now siding with the corrupt and protesting against demonetisation on the streets.”
Watch what else is making news:
“We will demand bank statements from elected representatives. The PM has started this act of transparency. We too will do it — first with our elected members before asking others,” he said.
Tiwari tried to downplay his Purvanchali roots, saying, “The appointment should not be categorised on regional lines as I have earned the love of all.”
The first task undertaken by Tiwari was trying to ensure night shelters for the homeless — he issued an appeal to L-G Najeeb Jung in this regard. He also raised the issue of Delhi not having a full-time Social Welfare Minister.
