The fast track court at Saket,hearing the Delhi gangrape case,on Thursday called for an inquiry into a letter,purportedly issued by the Naxal chief of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand,threatening the court with dire consequences if Akshay Singh Thakur,one of the six accused in the case,was not released on bail.
A P Singh,counsel representing accused Akshay in the gangrape case,claimed that the hand-written letter was delivered via post to his office on Thursday and presented a copy to the court.
If Akshay is not released,then we shall carry out an operation similar to the one carried out in Sukma valley in your court,home and jail, the letter reads.
Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Kumar Khanna has directed the Investigation Officer to look into the matter and submit a report on Friday.
Meanwhile,the owner of the bus involved in the incident and the carpenter who was allegedly robbed by the six accused on the night of the incident deposed before court.
The carpenter identified four of the six accused. Pointing towards Akshay,Pawan and Vinay,he said the trio had tricked him into boarding the bus,beat him,tore his clothes and stole his cellphone and money before throwing him from the moving bus near the IIT flyover. He said two others,a man with half of his arm burnt and another with a child-like face were also present in the bus,but were not in the courtroom.
