A 40-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a police constable late on Wednesday night,while she was returning to her house in Northeast Delhi. The policeman,who has not reported for work since the incident,has been suspended.
Police said the constable,Zafar (36),had stopped the woman while she was returning to her house in Seelampur, Northeast Delhi. Zafar is posted in the special staff of the district.
On November 23,the victim was returning from Seelampur market with her husband at 11.50 pm. Zafar stopped the couple at Gurudwara road and started misbehaving with her, said Addl DCP (Northeast) B K Singh.
The woman told police that Zafar was drunk at the time of the incident. The victim,a journalist by profession,knew the constable. A medico-legal certificate of the victim and her husband revealed that they were also drunk when the incident occurred, Singh said.
A case has been registered against Zafar.
In another incident of alleged molestation,police arrested a manager of a private firm at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport on Thursday for harassing three of his female colleagues. An aide of the accused is absconding,police said.
According to police,the manager was arrested from IGI airport after a female staffer of his company filed a complaint. We contacted the company and arrested him with their help. Another person is absconding. We are trying to trace him, said DCP (IGI) R A Sanjeev.
According to the FIR,the woman works at a T-3 lounge handled by a firm. She told police that the assistant manager at the firm had proposed to her in August this year. When she rejected his advances,he started molesting and harassing her.
She alleged the manager then shifted her to the team of his friend to punish her.
