Cong workers protest at DPCC office

Congress workers protested outside the PCC office over the party’s support to AAP.

Several Congress workers on Monday night turned up at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) office to protest against the party’s decision to support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Reached for her comments, caretaker CM Sheila Dikshit said there was anger in certain pockets of the Congress.

Speaking to Newsline,Dikshit said,“Congress workers protested outside the PCC office over the party’s support to AAP. After 15 years in power, there is a section of party workers who are angry that we are helping somebody else to form the government.”

But Congress leaders explained that the move to support the AAP was not without logic — the primary objective being to ensure that an election doesn’t take place in Delhi before the Lok Sabha polls in 2014,thus giving the party some time to regroup and strengthen their position in the national capital.

Hours after Kejriwal announced that his party would stake claim to form the government in Delhi, with Congress support,Congress workers turned up in protest at the DPCC shouting slogans against the AAP and Kejriwal.

“These workers are unhappy… They will meet DPCC president Arvinder Singh Lovely tomorrow (Tuesday),” Jitender Kochar,DPCC spokesperson, said.
