After cousin Farhan Akhtar and pal Shah Rukh Khan bit the TV hosting bug,choreographer-director Farah Khan is revelling in her latest avatar — of a talk show host on Tere Mere Beach Mein,a one-hour chat show with celebrities that begins on August 23 on Star Plus. “From the outset this might seem just another chat show, but we’ve tried a different format,” says Farah, casually dressed in a blue top and jeans at The Claridges.

The show is divided into different segments; each episode dealing with a particular theme. “We have had Salman Khan coming on our show with his mother for the theme ‘Mama’s Boy’ and both of them ended up revealing facts we didn’t know,” she says. The show also involves the audience — anybody can quiz the celebrity on how they deal with certain challenges. There is even an agony aunt section where the guest listens to the personal problems of the audience and offers solutions. Farah, meanwhile, says movies aren’t over for her yet and she’s planning to get down to writing the script for her next film,Happy New Year, starring Shah Rukh. “There have been delays because of Shah Rukh’s shoulder injury. If all goes well, the casting will be done soon and we can begin shooting by year-end,” says Farah, whose last SRK outing was Om Shanti Om in 2007. With the big noise surrounding SRK’s run-in with the US Border and Customs officials,Farah didn’t waste an opportunity to take a jibe at the US security procedures. “If they had just shown presence of mind and googled him, they would have known who they were dealing with,” she says. We’ll wait for Shah Rukh’s point of view on Tere Mere Beach Mein.
