Airport line Metro stations to be inspected

New Delhi: After months of delay,the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will finally inspect the two pending Metro stations — Dhaula Kuan and Aerocity — on the Airport Metro Express Line on August 9. Once the two stations get a safety clearance,the 23-km high speed corridor will be made fully operational. The operational hours of the line are also slated to be increased from the existing 18 hours a day to 20 hours and the speed of trains,which is currently 105kmph be brought up to 120kmph.

HC to hear Kalmadi’s petition today

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court will on Friday pronounce its verdict on the plea of Congress MP and sacked CWG Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi,seeking permission to attend the ongoing monsoon session of the Parliament. While the Central Government and the CBI have opposed Kalmadi’s plea,the lawmaker has claimed that he had a special right to attend the parliament and raise voice for the people of his constituency.

DU to fund applicants for Oz study programme

New Delhi: The Delhi University (DU) has issued a notification inviting applications from second and third year under graduate students who wish to go on a fully sponsored study trip to Melbourne,Australia,as participants in the ‘Global Citizenship program for Young leaders’,an initiative of the Australia- India Institute of the University of Melbourne. Ten students from DU colleges will travel to Australia to participate in the program which is scheduled for October 1-0,2011. Last date for filling applications to their college principal is before August 16.
