A rail mishap was averted on Tuesday as smoke was seen eminating from the generator coach of a Delhi bound Rajdhani Express.

Disaster averted onboard Rajdhani,guard spots smoke

New Delhi: A rail mishap was averted on Tuesday as smoke was seen eminating from the generator coach of a Delhi bound Rajdhani Express. The incident took place when the Patna-New Delhi Rajdhani Express was between Anand Vihar railway station and Tilak Bridge.

Smoke was seen coming out of the rear coach,when the guard in it raised an alarm. The train was stopped immediately and the coach was detached from the rest of the locomotive. Though railway officials said that it was a minor incident,sources said that had the coach caught fire it could have easily spread to the adjacent passenger coaches. “When the guard noticed smoke coming out,he raised an alarm and the train was immediately brought to a halt between Anand Vihar and Tilak Bridge stations. The affected generator coach was detached and the train brought over to its destination at the New Delhi Railway station. There are no injuries and it was a minor incident,” said an official Northern Railways spokesperson.

Man held for raping 20-year-old

GURGAON: Police have arrested a man who allegedly raped a 20 year old girl after luering her onthe pretext of giving her a job.

The incident took place in a hotel where the victim was called by the accused Sunder Kumar. “When she reached there,he raped her. She has lodged a complaint in Sadar police station”,police said.

The accused was arrested from Hero Honda Chowk on Tuesday and was sent to 14 days judicial custody by the court.

Undertrial attacked by prisoner

New Delhi: A 30-year-old undertrial was allegedly attacked by another prisoner when they were being taken to the Dwarka court on Tuesday,police said.The injured prisoner has been identified as Vijay Saini who was taken to DDU Hospital after Virender allegedly attacked him with blades on the neck. The attack followed an argument between the duo.

Depressed student ends life

New Delhi: A 24-year-old student committed suicide after he failed to clear the entrance examination of Delhi School of Economics,police said on Tuesday. Parabsaranjeet Singh,had graduated in Economics from Khalsa College,Delhi University and was a resident of Model Town in Northwest Delhi.

Though no suicide was found on him,police said Singh was depressed after he failed to clear the entrance test.
