New Delhi: The Delhi Jal Board on Monday increased water and sewerage development charges,which will mainly affect residents of unauthorised colonies. A DJB meeting,chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit,took a decision to increase the charges to Rs 405 per square metre from Rs 329,while sewer development charges have been hiked to

Rs 455 per sqm from Rs 369. The board’s meeting also approved the construction of a 9-MGD sewage treatment plant on Ghazipur drain.

Six held for manufacture of fake scotch

New Delhi: Police arrested six persons near Ring Road on Monday for making fake scotch at a factory in Khoda colony,Ghaziabad. Machines for manufacturing fake bottle caps and fake premium brands of scotch were also recovered,police said. Fake caps of Johnnie Walker Black Label,Johnnie Walker Red Label,Johnnie Walker Gold Label,Grey Goose Vodka and fake stickers of Chivas Regal and Glenfiddich were also found.

Autolifter held,33 bikes recovered

New Delhi: A 29-year-old autolifter have arrested from Arjun Nagar T-point and recovered 33 stolen motorcycles from his possession. The accused,H M Burhanuddin,was arrested on May 22 when he came to dispose of a bike stolen from Mayur Vihar on the same day,a senior police official said. Burhanuddin lives in Lillong,Manipur. “He is a member of Shana gang of the North-Eastern region. Police have worked out 69 cases of motor vehicle theft in Delhi,Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand,” said Chhaya Sharma,DCP (South).
