Will have 15 per cent women soon: Delhi Police in RTI reply
The Union Home Ministry has advised Delhi Police to increase the strength of women in the capitals police force to 15 per cent. Responding to queries filed by RTI activist Subhash Chandra Aggarwal,the MHA said the police have been advised to raise the strength of women in the force for which fresh recruitments are being undertaken. As of now,the 71,747-strong force includes 5,069 women,about seven per cent. The maximum number of women,3,225 of them,are posted as constables. In its reply,the Delhi Police also said a total of 116 posts for women Sub-Inspectors are lying vacant and it had advertised to fill up 82 of these vacancies last December.
Teenager dead,family says cops beat him up
FARIDABAD: A 17-year-old Class XII student died at his home in Mirzapur village early on Tuesday morning,hours after he was allegedly beaten up by villagers and Haryana Police personnel.
Meanwhile,the investigating officer at Sadar,Ballabhgarh maintained that Yogesh had misbehaved with Vickys aunt which led to a fight. Ashamed of his act,he might have consumed some poisonous substance, said the police officer. The police have registered a case against Vicky and his aunt but have made no arrests so far. The teenagers viscera have been sent to the forensic lab at Madhuban for determining the cause of death.
