King of snatchers arrested in UP
The police claimed to have arrested the king among snatchers,on Saturday. The accused,Raju Hakla,who was allegedly involved in at least 73 cases of snatching and pickpocketing the NCR,was apprehended in Pilkhuwa,UP,said Chhaya Sharma,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).
Raju is the undisputed king of snatchers and pickpockets operating in various parts of Delhi. All gang members regularly pay a major amount of their earnings to Raju, said Sharma. She added that Raju is known to all pickpockets in the city as he used to help them whenever they landed in police net. He arranged for their lawyers and even solved territorial disputes between gangs, she added.
According to the police,Raju,along with his associates,was also involved in a murder and an attempt to murder case. He carried an identity card of an NGO called All India Crime Reforms Organisation to avoid detection. For the last 3 to 4 months he also had started travelling with his wife on a motorcycle to avoid police checking and to prevent suspicion, Sharma said.
