At the second edition of Winter Carnival, organised by ICS/IAS Officers Wives Association on Sunday at the Palika Services Officers Institute in Chanakyapuri,Sharmila Tagore was the cynosure of all eyes, including a bunch of kids, clamouring for autographs. Tagore though, dealt with the situation with characteristic aplomb, deftly asking the kids,Why are you getting my autograph. Do you know my name? before obliging them with a smile. The yesteryear stunner, who is also the goodwill ambassador for UNICEF,says working with children keeps her busy most of the time. We recently went to London to raise money for girl education in Uttar Pradesh. For me,it is also a learning process.
Movies though, still figure prominently in her scheme of things. She will be seen next in a movie,Morning Walk, directed by debutante Aroop Dutta, alongside Anupam Kher. Would she consider directing a movie? No,direction is too much work, Tagore retorted airily. In the meanwhile, the turnout at this years Winter Carnival has been quite impressive. Jaya C Shekhar,President of the association who put together the carnival said,The response this time was overwhelming. We have about 60 stalls this time,a major leap from the 25 stalls at the fair last time. We have an extensive food court with cuisines from all the Bhavans. Besides,People for Animals has also put up dogs for adoption.
