Irreverent fashion designer Manish Arora is well known for tying-up with high-profile brands and cranking out diffusion collections for them. It is little wonder then that Arora has teamed up with premium car brand Mercedes Benz. At a fashion show for Mercedes last week,Arora revisited the best of the last six seasons— from his butterfly dress with a six foot train covered with 1,500 hand-embroidered and beaded butterflies that glowed in the dark,to the circus dress from his 2008 circus collection. “I had tied up with everything except a car brand, and when Mercedes approached me I decided to create a line for them,” said Arora, who refrained from going over the terms of association. “The association is for more than a year and wouldn’t be just about dresses but include accessories as well,” shared Arora, who unveiled 35 pieces, stunning the audience, largely businessmen, with a chromatic assault. The coltish models walked down a sliding ramp trussed up in ruffled skirts and cigarette pants that had got Arora “a lot of press abroad”. The Paris dress, with the Eiffel tower motif, was another highlight of the show.
