Metro labourer injured at construction site
A labourer suffered injuries at a Delhi Metro construction site in South Delhi on Friday evening when a pipe connected to a compressor got detached due to pressure. The incident was reported from the under-construction Jasola Metro station around 4 pm,Metro officials said. He was employed by the contractor M/s Pioneer. He was immediately provided medical assistance and is recovering,the officials added.

Four arrested for raping 21-year-old
A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by four persons in Burari area of North Delhi. According to the police,the four accused,identified as Guru Sewak,Gurpreet,Sanjay and Gaurav,have been arrested and a case of rape has been lodged. The police added that on January 8,the victim,who worked at a cosmetics shop in Burari,was invited to a party by Gurpreet,who knew her. At a deserted place three others joined them and the woman was allegedly raped after her cold drink was laced with sedatives.

Class X student commits suicide
A Class X student allegedly committed suicide for failing to perform well in the examinations. The police said the incident was reported from Vasant Kunj area of South Delhi on Thursday evening. “The victim,Rohit,16,was pursuing Class X through the open-school scheme. He had failed last year and did not perform well in this year’s exam either. We are yet to ascertain the exact reason as the victim did not leave behind a suicide note.” the police said.

Door-to-door garbage collection in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: The Municipal Corporation Gurgaon has,for the first time,launched its door-to-door garbage collection facility in areas falling under its jurisdiction. The first phase of the campaign was flagged off on Friday by MCG Commissioner R K Khullar from Rajiv Nagar.
