Block left out,to be counted today

Despite the sophisticated GIS maps given to officers during the Census 2011,a block in Jafrabad has not been counted — leaving out 650 households. However,it will be counted on Sunday.

Although the Census is officially over,enumerators will now count those who were left out. “We have to complete the whole exercise in one day. This is extra work,” an enumerator said. “

According to sources,the matter came to light after the residents complained to the Census Commission. As per officials,the charge officer in the area will also be issued a showcause notice.

“The charge officers in all areas are given a GIS map. They also sign certificates when the exercise is complete,” Delhi Census Commissioner Varsha Joshi said.
