Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally on January 10 at Ramlila Maidan, preparations are on in full swing to ensure a maximum turnout. With the BJP targeting an audience of one lakh for the event, the party said its focus will be on polling stations.

Party leaders claimed that since the announcement of the rally, daily meetings were being held with the district presidents of polling stations. Reportedly, each station in charge has been directed to make sure he sends out a bus full of people to the rally. Also, district presidents have been asked to submit daily reports to the state BJP office.

“The Prime Minister and BJP national president Amit Shah will be felicitating the new chief ministers of Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Haryana at the rally. While arrangements in terms of LCD screens will be in place, the focus is mainly on numbers. We need to ensure a maximum turnout,” BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri said. Bidhuri, along with two others, is in charge of the logistics and overall arrangements for the event.

At least 12 committees have been formed — each with defined tasks of transportation, decorations, advertisements, water and tents.

According to a party leader, the BJP is targeting a turnout of one bus per polling station for the rally. “Each polling station has a minimum of four booths. Some could have more. But, we are trying to ensure that one bus per four booths is the turnout for the rally. The BJP has 29 MLAs. So, in BJP strongholds, we are expecting that each MLA gathers at least 30 buses from his or her constituency. In other constituencies, we are targeting at least 20 buses. In all, we are expecting at least 2,000 buses full of people from 2,700 polling stations to attend the rally,” a party leader said.
