‘BJP manipulating voter lists, eroding democracy’: Arvind Kejriwal

Terming it the betrayal of the legacy of Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday accused the BJP of “desperately manipulating” voter lists and “eroding democracy” to “cover their imminent defeat in Delhi” elections. He was addressing the Delhi Assembly on Friday, the last day of its two-day special session.

Speaking on the alleged misuse of central probe agencies by the BJP-led Union government, Kejriwal referred to his letter to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, in which he had asked whether he agreed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi “inducting the most corrupt leaders of this country” into his party by “scaring them” with the ED and CBI, “luring them with money” or by “breaking them” from other parties.

“PM Modi has 25 such gems, whom he has carefully collected from other parties. They are very close to Modiji. Modiji cleaned all the filth (corruption charges), washed (put on backburner) all their cases,” he alleged.

“I have never seen such petty politics… I have been in politics for the last 10-12 years, but have never seen such dirty politics in the entire country earlier. I hope we will do whatever we can to clean up the country’s politics…,” he said.

Chief Minister Atishi told the House that people of Delhi will counter “every conspiracy devised by the BJP” against Kejriwal. She expressed confidence that in the upcoming Delhi elections, the people will “give Arvind Kejriwal all 70 seats, making him the chief minister once again”.a
