Ahead of the F1,DoubleTree by Hilton is being pitched as the place for sports enthusiasts The sure shot formula to sell anything these days is to pitch it to the upcoming Formula One race in Greater Noida. Naturally so for DoubleTree by Hilton, the newest five-star in town, which is located less than 40 kms from the Buddh International Circuit, considering that most other five stars in Delhi are either in Central or South Delhi at least 50-60 kms away from the racing track. The hotel has 196 rooms single category across the board and four suites. The rooms look compact and have all standard amenities. Theres a pool (on Level 3) and all fitness facilities expected in a five-star. The contemporariness and sleekness demonstrate that the DoubleTree is aimed to tap business travellers and occasional sports travellers, while the more luxury segment of travellers can check-in in the adjacent wing, the Hilton. Like the Hard Rock Hotel chain, the DoubleTree is also designed for the young, urban crowd. Even the dining options here are limited and casual. The hotel has no fine-dining restaurant (the Hilton wing has fine dine specialty restaurants),theres a all-day dining cafe, called Café-on-3,and the Roadhouse Bar and Grill,a sports bar oozing with booze and fries. The Roadhouse comes across as a place to have post-work drinks with friends. It reminds one of Texan roadhouses bold décor,charcoal-coloured walls,a long mahogany bar and wall panels decorated with miniature cars. Executive Chef Theodore Rudiferia, transferred from the Hilton Janakpuri, has something for everyone the insatiable meat lover or the staunch vegetarian. Popular items include steaks, pastas, burgers, sandwiches, salads and decadent desserts. Bar snacks include the Cilantro Crab Cakes,Smoked Hickory Buffalo Wings and Crispy Onion Rings. Hankering for a burger Roadhouse has six to choose from. As for alcohol, the restaurant offers themed beverages like Thunder Road 1958,Bullitt 1968 and Two Lane Blacktop 1971. Capturing the soul of America is a variety of Long Island Iced Teas, with unique names and mixes like Volvo S80 (served with whisky),Hino ALP (with cranberry crush) or the Lexus HS (with lemonade). The hotel was supposed to be ready ahead of the Commonwealth Games last year, but since it only started operating two months ago there is nothing like the F1 to rev up business.
