Bar brawl: Main accused wants FIR quashed

The court had sent Parth and his bodyguards to a mediation centre for counselling earlier this year after police filed a plea to cancel the anticipatory bail granted to Parth.

The Delhi Police on Tuesday opposed the plea by Parth Wadia, grandson of liquor baron Kishanlal Wadia, who had approached the court seeking quashing of an FIR lodged against him, his friends and bodyguards for allegedly trying to force their way into a club after assaulting the staff.

Parth informed the court that a “compromise” has been reached after mediation. The court had sent Parth and his bodyguards to a mediation centre for counselling earlier this year after police filed a plea to cancel the anticipatory bail granted to Parth.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) P S Patwalia, representing Delhi Police, said Parth, along with an “army” of over 30 men, were involved in a serious crime at a public place.

Justice Sunil Gaur was also told by the ASG that the group was denied entry when they reached the club. The group returned after some time and an altercation took place.

“This is a case where Parth and the other accused went back to that place and assaulted the club staff,” the ASG said.
Police also argued for cancellation of Parth’s bail, saying he was not cooperating with the investigation. The court said the matter, if taken lightly, will sent the wrong message to society.

“The thing which is bothering me after watching the CCTV clips of the incident is that a man is seen with a deadly weapon,” the judge remarked.

The court did not pass an order and asked police to go on with the probe and file its report.
