Three days after the arrest of auto-lifter Manoj Bakkarwala,the Special Cell of Delhi Police claimed to have solved 18 cases,including eight from Delhi. Police claimed Bakkarwala,while in jail,even hatched a conspiracy to eliminate the husband of a former lover.
Police are looking at the option of invoking the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act against him.
During interrogation,we have been able to ascertain his involvement in 18 cases including murder and robbery. While eight cases of Delhi have been worked out,ten relate to other states including UP,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, DCP (Special Cell) Arun Kampani said.
Police said the 18 cases that involved Bakkarwala were recent. He had escaped from the custody of Haryana Police six months ago.
Blamed for the theft of over 300 cars since 1998,Bakkarwala aka Manoj Sehrawat hails from Bakkarwala in West Delhi. He was arrested on January 16 at Ghazipur border. He is in police custody for ten days.
In October 2010,Bakkarwala,while in prison,hatched a conspiracy through associates to murder the husband of his former lover, Kampani said,adding that a case had been registered at the Jagdishpura police station in Agra.
