Sitting in the heart of Silicon Valley in the US,Samir Khandwala was not happy. He is obsessed about India and regretted the fact that non-resident Indians hardly had access to the films and music of their country and had to often download it illegally. “So I decided to address the problem,” says Khandwala, who started his own portal iMusti.com four years ago.

Based out of Fremont,California,iMusti.com is now one of the leading music portals and largest online (legal) stores for Indian music. “iMusti.com offers a complete range of audio and video content on all technology platforms for consumers across the world,” explains the entrepreneur, who is in his 40s. The portal streams and sells music from various genres including Bollywood,Hindustani classical, regional, devotional and so on.

When Khandwala started the project, however,he invested most of his time and effort scouting countless libraries for the content. Today, with over 2,50,000 users,iMusti has a team of 25 people who handle content and consumer traffic from over 140 countries.
