aroundtown: DUSU executive committee polls

NEW DELHI: Delhi University on Wednesday announced the dates for the election of eleven members of the executive committee of Delhi University Students’ Union this academic session. The executive committee comprise 11 members of the Central Council elected by its members from among themselves according to a system of proportional representation. “The election will be held indirectly through the use of a single transferable vote. Two of the eleven members should be girls,” Prof C S Dubey,the election officer,said. The last date for submitting nomination papers is October 9. The final list of candidates will be published on October 10. The election will take place on October 15 between 10 am and 12.30 pm at the Conference Centre.

Woman,her lover held for scrap dealer’s murder

New Delhi: Mahesh,a 23-year-old driver,was arrested for kidnapping and murdering Dhurav,a scrap dealer,in Moti Nagar area of West Delhi. Dhurav’s wife,Nitu,has also been arrested,police said. Dhurav’s brother has filed a complaint about Dhurav going missing. Investigations revealed that Mahesh was having an affair with Dhurav’s wife and together decided to murder him.An iron rod and a mobile phone have also been recovered,police said.
