A Delhi court on Wednesday upheld the judgment of a lower court in a case related with misappropriation of about Rs 1.5 crore by a civic official and other parties.

Forgery: Court upholds conviction of MCD staff
A Delhi court on Wednesday upheld the judgment of a lower court in a case related with misappropriation of about Rs 1.5 crore by a civic official and other parties. Additional Sessions Judge R K Gauba was hearing an appeal by former MCD clerk Anil Kumar and two contractors,Yogender Gupta and Srikant Gupta,who had been sentenced by a lower court for illegally withdrawing money from the bank account of Remunerative Project Cell of MCD. The court directed the three to pay compensation to the MCD.

Short-circuit at Barakhamba Metro station
A minor short-circuit was reported from one of the equipment rooms of a CDMA mobile operator at Barakhamba Road Metro station on Wednesday at 2 pm. The fire brigade was called in and the situation was brought under control.

BJP team inspects Games venues
A team of city BJP leaders led by state president Vijendra Gupta on Wednesday visited the Connaught Place area and inspected progress of work of various projects and found that almost all of them are running behind schedules.

Two more dengue cases in city; count now 10
Two fresh cases of dengue were reported in the city on Wednesday,taking the number of patients to 10 this season. While four cases were reported from MCD area,three were from NDMC area.

Former Jamia V-C gets French honour
Former Jamia Millia Islamia University Vice-Chancellor Mushirul Hasan was conferred the ‘Officer in the Order of Palmes Academiques’ award by the French Government for his contributions in Indo-French University cooperation. The award was given away by French Ambassador Jerome Bonnafont.

Gurgaon: A Delhi Police ASI’s daughter,who had gone missing from Tikli village on Monday night,was found in Sirsa distict on Wednesday. Mamta had taken shelter at the Dera Sacha Sauda camp. She was produced before a magistrate on Wednesday.

25-year-old ends life
A 25-year-old call centre employee,Harish Chander,allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance in the Capital on Wednesday morning. The police suspect a failed love affair might have been the motive.
