Student accuses DU professor of rape after promise of marriage
New Delhi:A 30-year-old professor of Delhi University has been arrested for raping a 25-year-old student. The accused had reportedly promised to marry the girl but later refused to do so.The incident was reported from Rohini,Outer Delhi,where the woman is pursuing her BTech from Delhi College of Engineering. According to police,she had known the accused,Virendra Singh,for several years. Singh,who teaches at Satyawati College,had established physical relations with the woman,after promising her marriage, a senior police officer said.
Couples body found under flyover in Outer Delhi,police suspect suicide
New Delhi:Disfigured bodies of a 21-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman was found near the railway tracks of Outer Delhis Samaipur Badli area on Thursday morning. Police said it appeared to be a case of suicide. The couple,identified as Amit and Geeta,both residents of Samaipur Badli,were working together at a cooler manufacturing company and knew each other for more than three years,police said. They were in a relationship,police said. According to police,Amits face was disfigured while Geetas right arm and leg had deep cut marks. It seemed the bodies had been run over by a train,police said. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide. Police said Amits family had raised objections to his relationship with Geeta,as she was older to him. Geetas family,too did not approve of her relationship with Amit. However,no suicide note was found,police said.
