The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will now go ahead with a trial run of the 2-km Sultanpur-Qutub Minar section of the Metro on Saturday. This is in furtherance of the DMRC’s plans to make the Gurgaon line till Qutub Minar operational by June end. The DMRC has asked the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to inspect the line so it could get the mandatory clearance.

Koli complains of uneasiness,doctors say he is fine
Ghaziabad: Surender Koli,sentenced to death on Wednesday in the Nithari killings case,complained of uneasiness on being taken to the Dasna Jail after the pronouncement of verdict. Jail Superintendent V K Singh said 38-year-old Koli complained of headache and other discomfort on Wednesday night and was taken to the prison hospital. Singh said no serious ailment was detected by the jail doctors and Koli was lodged in his high security solitary cell where he was not provided anything that could be used for attempting suicide. He ate a light meal before going to sleep.

Man found dead in car,friend critical
Ghaziabad: A man,Rahul Sharma (30),was found dead inside his car at his garage in Hapur on Thursday. A woman,Neha (28),was also found in a critical condition with him. Neha is said to be Sharma’s friend. Sharma is married and has a child. The car’s air-conditioner was running when the incident came to light.

CBI conducts raids,books 3 for fuel adulteration
After raids at several places in the city on Thursday,the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered four cases against three persons following recovery of several adulterants and equipment. The CBI was reportedly informed by the Petroleum ministry after several complaints about petroleum products being stored without authorisation for adulteration at various locations in the Capital. The CBI organised a joint surprise check along with officers of petroleum companies at Geeta Colony,Tikri Kalan (Nangloi) and Vishwakarma Colony (Prahaladpur) on the Badarpur-Mehrauli Road. The units owners,identified as Praveen Kumar,Babul Gupta and Vinod Garg were booked under relevant sections.

Trader booked for selling counterfeit perfumes
The Central Bureau of Investigation registered a case under Drugs and Cosmetics Act,Trademark act and Copyright Act on Thursday against a person for supplying fake perfumes to dealers in Delhi and neighbouring areas. Inderjeet Singh,a perfume manufacturer based in Vishnu Garden,was running several perfume-making units even though he did not have a licence. The CBI team recovered more than 600 boxes containing perfumes bottles. According to the CBI,the accused delivered over 1,000 bottles every day and had a turnover of Rs 5 crore per annum.

Solar power to light Talkatora stadium
Talkatora Stadium,upgraded by the New Delhi Municipal Council,as a boxing venue for the Commonwealth Games will now be illuminated by solar energy. The move is part of initiatives under the Green & Clean Delhi and to create awareness on environment protection and energy conservation. An ISO certified company,Linkage Technologies Inc,has already installed 60 solar energy lights in the compound of the stadium.

Court asks special police team to trace child
After the police’s inability to locate a three-and-a-half-year-old,whose mother had alleged the child was kidnapped by her father,a city court directed the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police (West) on Thursday to transfer the probe to a senior officer of a specialised wing. On the last hearing,the court had summoned the DCP but allowed his plea on Thursday seeking exemption from appearance on the ground of maintaining law and order duty.
